Another post from a story I am developing (too long to explain here). To make a long story short, this illustration depicts a rediscovery of a civilization abandoned by people who were forced to move underground. The ones who discover this world on the surface used to live in the sky, above a huge cloud of darkness that covered the earth. These people descended onto the surface when the cloud dissipated. They used to live on giant, floating jellyfish in the sky (see my website to see how this looks like).
